Halifax, Dec. 9. A sensation was caused here by Chief City Marshal Cotton receiving a letter signed Jack the Ripper. The letter stated that he had just arrived from Boston, whence he had come from London, and declared he was going to kill seven or eight women in this city. It is generally regarded as a hoax.
