Forgive the delay but I don't get to post as much as I'd like. I noticed late last year that Wood's Buildings have been closed by order of the council. Huge metal gates block the entry from the Whitechapel Road and the bridge into Winthrop Street. Sad to lose access to a probable Ripper escape route, but the alley won't be demolished any time soon because the buildings are very much in use. Due its former popularity with prostitutes, thugs and pissing drunks, I'm surprised this didn't happen a long time ago.
