At a meeting of the Society of Medical Jurisprudence and State Medicine on Dec 13 1889, a discussion of the "Whitechapel Murders & Criminal Lunacy" took place. A paper was presented by an Austin Abbot to the effect that the murderer was not insane.

Has this paper or the proceedings of the Society ever been published? Is anything known of Austin Abbot? I am interested in the opinion of the times regarding JtR's state of mind.

Regards

Neale
