I hereby notify that I am going to pay your girls a visit. I hear that they are beginning to say what they will do with me. I am going to see what a few of them have in their stomachs, and I will take it out of them, so they can have no more to do on the quiet. (Signed) John Ripper. P.S. I am in Poplar today

Of interest, "Bryant and May" were famed match producers - their brand of matchbox, it has been suggested, was the one found on the body of Catherine Eddowes. Also related to Matchbox Girls Strike - letter possibly intended to threaten matchgirls?
