Timid women in London have reason for alarm. It is pretty clear there is a murderous maniac abroad who has killed three women within a few months. The first victim was a woman found stabbed with a sword stick some months since near Whitechapel Church. The second was found three weeks ago at the bottom of the steps to a model lodging house, with thirty nine stabs over her body. The third was discovered yesterday morning, within three hundred yards of the same spot. The woman was horribly mutilated, her head nearly severed, and she was gashed from groin to breastbone. All these outrages were within a radius of a third of a mile, in a very low neighborhood of Spitalfields. the people in the district fear to go out after dark. They have no sort of clew and begin to believe the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is true and Mr. Hyde is at large.
