My anagram program has been busy. I typed in the name James Maybrick and came up with interesting combinations, a few of which I show below:

KEPT CIPHER JAR
JERK PAP THRICE
JACK HER TIPPER
CHEAP JERK TRIP
JERK TRIPE CHAP
HE PET PRICK JAR
I RETCH JERK PAP
JERK A PREP ITCH
JACK RIP PET HER
CAP JERK HER PIT
PACK HER JET RIP
PECK HER JAR PIT
PICK HER JAR PET

Whatever it's worth. When I typed in 'The Juwes are not the men to be blamed for nothing' I got nothing even after an hour had gone by. If I left out the word Juwes, I got about 1000 responses and had to stop the program because I wanted to go to bed. Some of those were interesting. I'll have to try it again sometime.

Excuse me Edana:

Aren't the anagrams that you have listed all anagrams of "Jack the Ripper" NOT "James Maybrick" --or am I missing something here?

Wow, yesterday was NOT a good day for me. yes, indeed, the anagrams are for Jack the Ripper and not James Maybrick. I think maybe I should just curl up and go to sleep. I did do James Maybrick too and got my clipping and pasting screwed up. Oh geez, I am embarassed.

Ok, after the previous huge mistake, I will attempt to make amends by posting the James Maybrick anagrams. My apologies for the confusion. My favorites will be colored in red. By the way, did James Maybrick have a middle initial?

Edana -

I don't know, I thought 'Jack bays : "rim me!"' read rather well, actually!

Guy, I rather liked that one too, but was afraid to say so. The one right after it... 'Rick bays: "ram me" is another pretty good one.

Jon, if only I had time to sit around jumbling letters for the amusement of Ripperphiles everywhere, no..it's a program.

Where did you get your anagram program (like the rhyme)? I'm curious...

Also have you tried the other phrase? I am currently reading the Diary of Jack the Ripper and they mentioned that there were two phrase..one the police read and one that the resident that found it said.
