Dear Dante:

There was a discussion over in the Miscellaneous board about the lanterns... Stewart Evans, I believe actually fired one up. I suggest that you go look at that board, or do a keyword search here on the message boards for the link.

Warm regards,
Divia

Here we are, Dante.

Brief description of PC Lanterns coming up:

PC Phil Lanterns, H Division:

5ft 8", medium build, light hair, pale complexion, bright eyes.

Remembered by Inspector Corner of the Yard as a particularly bright spark, with a beaming smile; always looking into corners, ever ready to shed light on things, and an innate ability to provide illuminating views on cases otherwise shrouded in fog and mystery.

(Sorry Dante - couldn't resist.)

Afternoon all.

Love,

PC Caz

Hi, Caz

As I recall, PC Lanterns also had a lantern jaw did he not?

All the best

Chris

Of course. I should have realised you were old enough to remember the lantern-jawed PC personally.

I don't mean the lantern-jawed PC Perce O'Nally, Phil's nephew, who pounded the beat some years later. During one particularly icy winter, you should have seen his lantern slide. :)

Have a great weekend all and enjoy the lighter side of life. Take a visit to a perfume factory or walk round a rose garden - you know it makes scents.

Love,

Caz

Hi Caz:

He might have been just jammy but I hear PC Lanterns said the door was ajar.

You have a great weekend too Caz.

Hello All,

Our further research on PC Lanterns reveal he had a bull nose. Lived in Letsby Avenue, Hackney Wick.
Carried the torch for his family. And in his spare time, was the leading light in a local amateur theatre group.

Hope this helps.
A.

Stop it, stop it,

This thread is getting far too silly,

Move along now.

Afternoon All,

Ok, to put this thread to bed, I'd better just let everyone know how the story ends.

My further research brought to light the fact that when a hole opened up one day in Letsby Avenue, PC Lanterns was summoned to look into it. Down there was his old friend Davy Lampe, feeling rather faint. Lanterns hauled Lampe to safety, but on returning home, he found his outside privy had been stolen. He had nothing to go on, although he suspected local thief, Lou Nicks, was at the bottom of it somewhere.

It was all very sad. PC Lanterns was put on light duties after that and never really recovered his original spark. He finally went out one day and no one ever saw him again.

Sorry Bo. Moving along now - if I can see my way in the darkness - sniff.

Love,

Caz

All right folks, the show's over... nothing to see here, move along now.

You too, Johnny... get off the corner.
