A big thanks to all those correspondents in Britain, the USA and Canada who sent in newspaper articles for inclusion at the Casebook a few months ago. The Casebook staff, and Stephen Ryder in particular, have been exceptionally busy for a while now, so the updates have taken a little longer than usual to be posted. But all good things come to those that wait and in the past 24 hours a number of items have been added to Press Reports.
Headline news is that there are now over 500 items available for your perusal. Use is free to all students, but please remember to acknowledge the Casebook website if you make use of any of them in your books and articles.
A toast of cyber champagne to our hoste, Mr. Ryder. Cheers!

I am taking the opportunity offered by the Christmas holiday period to sweep up some of the shavings of press material that we have outstanding. It will be used to plug a few gaps in the Casebook's Press Reports section. There is more of this work than expected, so if anybody out there is not enamoured with the prospect of endless turkey, relatives and TV repeats (and who could blame you?), please e-mail me at the address given in this profile. There is room for at least one person to act as a transcriber. First come, first served. Just one word of warning - good eyesight is a definite advantage given the state of some of these microfilm copies. Thanking you,

We are now at the point of 'sweeping up' stories for the Casebook's press pages. I have a number of articles from The Times newspaper of 1888-89. These are not the front line articles – those have all been typed already. Rather, this batch consists mainly of letters to the editor, plus some editorials and news snippets. Not the most glamorous pieces – but important nonetheless for the insight they give into people’s attitudes to the murders as they occurred.
Anybody interested in assisting with the transcription please let me know by replying to the e-mail address contained in this profile. Please include some indication of how much work you would be interested in taking on. I intend to parcel this lot out in batches of between 3,000 and 6,000 words.
The usual methods will apply, namely an estimated quantity of work will be posted for transcription in a set time, after which the transcriber e-mails the completed work to a named proof-reader.
