I have been doing some research into the 1888/89 editions of local paper (kent UK) and found a long article regarding the Kelly inquest. It was all pretty standard stuff rehashing what I have read before but there was a footnote about a letter sent on the day of the Kelly murder to her landlady (Mr Carthy's wife) which was not only signed Jack the Ripper but was also signed with a name
Does anyone know anything about this as I have never seen mention of it before? The paper in question is the Thanet Advertiser (for those who don't know Thanet is the easternmost part of Kent about 80 miles from London)
If anyone is interested I will post the passage in full (excluding the witness testimonies as these contin nothing new)
Any info would be gratefully received

Chris and Jon, this letter, a post card actually, with a Folkestone post mark, was sent to Mrs. McCarthy on either the 11th or 12th of November and not on the day of the murder. It was signed not Jack the Ripper but Jack Sheridan, the Ripper and is merely another example of the thousands of hoax letters, notes and postcards sent at the time of the murders.
"Of course these sensational missives are in all probability the handiwork of some leisured idiot who thinks he is playing off a capitol practical joke."
