Recent events are unfolding in London , where the dismembered bodies of two women and the disappearandce of a third have led newspapers to label the (as yet unknown)perpertrater"The Camden Ripper"!
Although no one has been charged with any offence as yet, Police have been granted an additional
24 Hours in which to question a suspect.I would repeat , NO ONE HAS YET BEEN CHARGED WITH REGARD TO THIS EVENT .
My point is ,that as events unfold ,and IF anyone is charged and there is a Trial ,I wonder if we will gain a greater understanding into the motivation and related factors of the perpertraters of such Crimes.
If so it would be interesting to see what similarities,if any ,exist between these current events, and events in Whitechapel , 115 years ago.
I will certainly be watching with interest.

Trevor.

And I'm getting really fed up with the Media christening him the Ripper...much more of a Dis-memberer.
Always the Pedant,

Hello all,
although I haven't seen the latest news today,I heard yesterday that the police are anxious to trace the whereabouts of a missing 25 year old woman living in the Camden area.
Her name is Kelly Ann Nichols!

evening,

Body parts police get more time

LONDON (Reuters) - Police have been given more time to question a man in connection with the discovery of the dismembered bodies of two women in north London's Camden district. Scotland Yard said on Saturday magistrates had granted detectives an extra 36 hours -- until 10 p.m. on Sunday -- to quiz Anthony John Hardy, 51, before they must charge him or set him free. Hardy was arrested on Thursday night after a manhunt, launched when a homeless man found parts of women's legs in a rubbish bin outside a pub on Monday. The murders were dubbed the "Ripper Killings" by newspapers after the infamous 19th century killer Jack the Ripper. Police have named one of the victims as Elizabeth Selina Valad, 29, who was born in Nottingham and lived in London, where she worked as a prostitute. Valad's mother Jackie was "unable to face anyone", even close friends, said the mother's boyfriend, Peter Harrold. "She can't speak to them, can't bring herself to do that," he said. "She can't read any newspaper or watch television because she knows of the body parts that are missing." Valad's mother, who lives in Nottingham, had implored her daughter to stop working as a prostitute. "Jackie was always begging her to give up her life in London and come home and live with us here," added Harrold. "She's trying to blank it out of her mind. There is also a part of her that is ashamed about it all." The remains of the second, younger woman have yet to be identified. Divers have been searching London's Regent's Canal for more body parts, including heads and hands, which might help identify the other victim.

51 eh? hmmmm, doesn't fit the profilers claims again

take care

Garry

Hello all,
Apparently the family of Kelly Ann Nichols have advised police that she is safe and well.
Good news.

Hi, Stephen:

Good point about the misuse of the term "Ripper" by the media. It seems that the name is applied to any bloody crimes or a series of crimes by a serial killer. The Yorkshire Ripper crimes, as an example, were bludgeoning murders not ripping crimes. We do though have to recognize that the original Jack the Ripper is the victim of his own notoriety. His fame and his myth precede him.

Best regards

Chris George
