No offence to Juliette Binoche and the pose isn't exactly the most flattering, and the famous Louise Brooks pearls picture is very stylised, but when all is said and done it's not the same. There was more to Louise Brooks than the 20s of being a flapper. It was... er, it was... well, I guess it was just being Louise Brooks.

Hi, all:

The following are the prices for the 16-page color book of Jack--The Musical with promotional 20-track 56-minute CD with songs from the show: $35.00 US, 250 French francs, or 38 Euros.

The book and CD of Jack--The Musical are being issued in a limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies. Included in the book is an introduction by Paul Begg, a synopsis of the show, and biographies of the cast and the lyricist, Chris George, and composer, Erik Sitbon. The show features fully orchestrated songs that explore the psychology of the crimes from the viewpoint of the killer, his victims, the police, and the people of Whitechapel.

For addresses in the United States or France, postage will be included in the prices unless priority or other special delivery is required.

The French CD cast will perform the songs from Jack--The Musical at the Bournemouth UK convention on the opening night of the convention, Friday, September 28, 2001, at which we plan to sign copies of the book that accompanies the CD.

Hi, all:

To follow up on my previous post, we have also now established a website for Jack--The Musical. It is under construction at http://www.jack-themusical.com/ For the moment, the site is just one page but it will ultimately contain samples of the songs that you will be able to hear, the lyrics of the songs from the show, photographs of the recording sessions, and other items of interest.

Best regards

I have heard from composer Erik Sitbon that the definitive version of the promotional CD of Jack--The Musical will be delivered to him in France by the manufacturer on May 19. As stated earlier, the book and CD are being issued in a limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies.

For more information, direct enquiries to Erik at Jackthemusical@aol.com or write to Erik Sitbon, 9 Rue des Bleuets,
91540 Mennecy, France. As noted, prices for the 16-page color book with promotional 20-track 56-minute CD with songs from the show are
$35.00 US, 250 French francs, or 38 Euros.

If anyone would like to have a preview of the book and has the capability of viewing a large file in Adobe Acrobat, I can send them the PDF file showing the book. Send your request by e-mail to me at editorcg@yahoo.com. Our website also gives an idea of the quality of the images in the book. See URL below.

Hi, all:

The promotional CD and book for Jack--The Musical are now ready and may be obtained through the contact addresses named above.

We are receiving interest from producers to do a stage show. We will be doing a concert version at the upcoming Jack the Ripper Convention at the Suncliff Hotel in Bournemouth, England. According to conference organizer Adam Wood, present plans call for us to perform the show at 9.00 pm on the opening night of the convention, Friday, September 28. This is taking some coordination since I am in the US and my partner Erik is in France. My wife Donna and I will be in England September 28 through October 4 and I hope to take in some of the Ripper sites in the East End during my stay there. Thanks all for your encouragement for the endeavors of Erik Sitbon and myself. Your kind words are appreciated!

Hi, all:

As noted elsewhere on these boards by Adam Wood, the upcoming UK Jack the Ripper convention opening on Friday, September 28, 2001 in Bournemouth will have as its opening event the world premiere of the musical that Erik Sitbon and I have written, Jack the Musical. For further information on the conference, go to http://www.ripperconference.co.uk/

Sales of our color book with promotional CD are brisk and what with us using the CD, as it is intended, to give to producers, we anticipate that the limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies will be exhausted at some date in the next few months. We do hope still to have a supply for sale in Bournemouth but it may be a limited number if sales continue. Contact information on how to order the book with promotional CD is given in earlier posts on this thread.

Paul Begg kindly wrote the Introduction to the book, and he has the following to say about our musical:

"What sets apart Sitbon and George's Jack the Musical from other musical treatments of the Whitechapel murders is the depth of both their story and music. Other musicals on this theme have either concentrated on the Ripper story itself or on the societal conditions in the East End. This new musical presents a more complex underlying story line that introduces one of the largely overlooked reasons the Jack the Ripper murders are remembered today: journalism. . . . Jack the Musical suggests that the journalists' narcotic: the need for a story, could have given birth to the sickness that drives a person to repeatedly kill." Paul adds, "Jack the Musical tells this story with subtlety and power."

Hi, all:

I am getting bowled over by some of the reactions Erik Sitbon and I are getting to our Ripper musical, Jack--The Musical, highlights of which are available on a promotional CD that I have been selling on eBay since May.

Get a load of these comments from people who bought our 16-page color book and promotional book CD sound unheard:

"Your creation deserves all the praise it's receiving! We need some new, well-written and excitingly creative musical shows to rejuvenate the Broadway and West End stages. JACK THE MUSICAL meets all the requirements to eventually be renamed JACK THE HIT MUSICAL!! I'll be keeping track of its progress, and wish you continued success!"

"Even better than expected! A thought-provoking masterpiece! Outstanding! The only worse crime than the Whitechapel murders themselves would be if your musical never made it to the most magnificent of stages. It deserves nothing less than the best. And I will certainly be there applauding like a raving madman once it does make it!"

The promotional CD and book of Jack--The Musical have been issued in a limited edition of 1,000 signed copies. Get your copy now before they are all snapped up. A definite collector's item for anyone who collects Ripper artifacts! See the current ebay auction at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1458707558 or buy directly from me, the lyricist, at editorcg@yahoo.com.

Also for those of you who are going to be at the UK convention in Bournemouth on September 28, our show will be the entertainment for the opening night and will be introduced by author Tom Clancy who is expected to kick off the whole convention. See http://www.ripperconference.co.uk/

Monsieur Sitbon has informed me that Yours Truly, the lyricist for Jack--The Musical, will appear in the show as the publican of "The Ten Bells" who provides the narration between the songs. Not being a Londoner but a Liverpudlian, I will probably use my best Scouse accent. Should I put in a plug for Mr. Maybrick???? (Only kidding, Stewart.)

One other thing, Stephen Ryder is preparing a review of the CD of Jack--The Musical for "Casebook: Jack the Ripper" and his review will feature one of the hit songs from the show: "Newspaper Work."

Thanks, Jon. Considering I had never written let alone recorded any songs before the moment in September 1999 when Erik and I met through the internet, by the good graces of Mr. Ryder, and we began compose our songs by e-mail between Baltimore and Paris, I find myself in a remarkable position two years later to have a budding hit musical on my hands! It seems unbelievable.

Grettings from California,

I just wanted to mention that I've recently purchased a second copy of Jack The Musical. Soon this WILL be a HUGE hit amongst the theater world without a doubt. For those who have not given the cd a listen you are missing out on something special.

I shall be at the JTR Conference in Bournemouth next month to witness this fine musical production. Thank you, Chris, for informing me of its debut.

Best regards,

Scott

Hi, Scott:

Nice to see you here. Thank you so much for your support. I am knocked out by the fact that you were so excited by our show that you were prepared to rerrange your vacation plans and arrange to attend the Bournemouth convention in order to be present for the concert performance of our show. Now that is real enthusiasm! It is very flattering that our project is already building a fan base of persons such as yourself who are as excited by the show as we are. Looking forward to meeting you in Bournemouth! It should be a great weekend!

Hi, all:

Still being offered on ebay or by e-mail from the creative team: the 16-page color book with promotional 20-track 56-minute CD of Jack the Musical. The show was performed to acclaim at the Jack the Ripper convention in Bournemouth, UK, two weeks ago, and was reported by Ripperologist Editor Paul Begg to be "powerful" and by Cloak and Dagger Club member Adrian Morris to be "like Evita with knives." The show featured a mesmerizing performance by Pierre-Yves Duchesne as Jack the Ripper, transforming himself from loving husband to manic killer. A review of the performance is being written for Ripper Notes by Caroline Morris while Adrian Morris will, we understand, be writing about the show in Ripperologist.

Our book and promotional CD have been issued in a limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies. We do have an offer on the table from a producer which looks very positive. As of this time, we are able to continue selling the promotional CD but this might change when we sign the contract.

The current ebay sale is at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1473896277. Or for more information, direct enquiries to Erik at Jackthemusical@aol.com or write to Erik Sitbon, 9 Rue des Bleuets, 91540 Mennecy, France. If ordered by e-mail, prices for the 16-page color book with promotional 20-track 56-minute CD with songs from the show are $35.00 US, 250 French francs, 38 Euros, or £24.50 sterling postpaid.
