Hello, I'm involved with a show at my University, and the lead male plays a killer in the Victorian era. He isn't JTR, but he's also not good. I was interested in the JTR case because I thought it would make for some interesting inspiration to his role. Does anyone have any information or general freaky facts about the Ripper, his victims, whether or not he was married, etc. that you think would be good inspiration for an actor?

Amanda,

Welcome to the boards.

I suggest that the best way to get a feel for what Jack did is to go back to the main casebook page, and click on the victims section. Go through and look at the pictures and see what happened. If that doesn't give you an idea of what happened, nothing will.

Also pretty much any Sherlock Holmes story will give you the feel for the period. Or Jane Austen if you've got a weekend free.

This site is jam packed with info, "freaky facts" and all, check it out.

As for if the Ripper was married - well, we may never know. :)

Good luck on the show.

B
