The Sun dated Tuesday, March 20 2001 mentions that the Ten Bells pub is for sale at £1.2 million.
Any offers?

Hi, G:

Yes. I'll buy it just after I put the money down on my new Rolls Royce.

Well then, just how much is that in US dollars? And the all important question:

How much down?

Paul, It is a "Sun Spot" on page 7.
Why don't we all chip in to buy a piece of history?

Hi Avril
Many thanks. I passed it by goodness knows how many times. I wish I could buy the pub. What is worrying is that it might not stay a pub, but will be converted into flats or open as a restaurant. It's just another bit of the area's history eroded. I'm sure it could be a goldmine if somebody realised its potential and had the interest to capitalise on it.

cheers
Paul

Will all scholars please note the hitherto unrecorded fact, that Counsellor Begg has been known to arrive at the corner of Commercial Street and Fournier Street and PASS BY the Ten Bells without entering its doors to take up residence at the bar corner and imbibe.

Martin,
The wielder of the amiable British toecap.

That's very true. I've done it many, many times too, but only when it is closed and I'm heading for the Commercial.

Does anyone know if the Ten Bells has reopened yet? If not when is it expected to?

People, If I could float that loan, ripper history would continue. I do hope the new owners realize the gold mine they have and avoid letting it "Go Condo" or what ever the appropriate British term is. Neil

Monty: Actually no but one never knows what goes on in the mind of developers. If the ones in Dear Old Blighty are like they are here in the U.S. they bear careful watching. Hopefully Ten Bells Stays open for a long time to come. Neil

Hi all: Are there photos extant of the Ten Bells interior? And has it changed since 1888? I could use a really good photo or two so I can get a feel for it as I am using the interior for a scene in the novel. Neil
