Found a little something that may be of interest. It is from the Olean Democrat (New York) of 3 January 1889. Tumblety, after returning to New York under the name of Frank Townsend absconded from his ldging and was lost to sight on 5 December 1888 and is next definitely known of in 1893. The short article may be of interest also in that earlier in his life Tumblety used the name Sullivan...
