This extract is from the 1895 Medico-Legal Congress Bulletin in New York.
At the moment I can't place the case.

This sounds to me like the murder of Augusta (or Augustine) Dawes by Reginald Saunderson. There's a brief account of the murder in Ripper Notes #21 (p. 77); and there are newspaper reports here at the Casebook
