I believe Mr Morland was a former editor of The Criminologist. He claimed to have interviewed an ageing Inspector Abberline. Abberline is supposed to have stated that The Ripper was to be found in the upper echelons of society.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but i know very little of Mr Morland. Did he have as history of sensationalist writings? Or, were his writings more factually based, well researched, sober articles?

Mr Morland's claim cannot now be proven. However, his claim to have interviewed Abberline is imprtant.

Of course, if Abberline did make such a claim, that in itself does not make Abberlines' theory correct.
