Hey, what do I know....What are your impressions of the following message sent by Osama Bin Laden to the West....

"..Your security is not in the hands of Kerry, Bush, or al-Qaeda....Your security is in your own hands. Any state that does not mess with our security has naturally guaranteed its own security..."

Mess ?...Hmm..Do I smell another Tom Bulling here,or is it customary for terrorists-in-towels to use the American term, "mess" ???

Hi Howard,

I think the answer hear lies in the translation.
The report in todays Guardian (UK) reads, "and each state which does not harm our security will remain safe."

Depends on which newspaper you buy.

Best Regards

John: Thanks for ruining my budding conspiracy theory !..and I wasn't bulling !!..

I offer this Arabic curse toward you, ya fellaheen ! It comes from the 18th Century prophet and convienience store night manager, Neba Bin Soba...

" May the nubile and well oiled bodies of a thousand harem girls be at your disposal,oh Gory One...but you're too drunk to do anything, but look.."

Seriously John....Alan Sharp also told me the same about this translation...Thanks for your reply..

Back in the 80s there was a story that Iraqis were torturing devout Moslem Iranian prisoners-of-war by forcing them to watch sex films. The question being asked was : did they cut their hands off first?.....

No, Robert.....

The films featured, one entitled, Up and Coming , featured a sultry little redhead named Dr. Ruth and Billy Barty...They let 'em keep their hands intact to enjoy the pokin' motion of these two diminutive dynamos... that was old school torture !

Hi Howard, John, and Robert

What is interesting perhaps is that Osama's videotape is probably as aimed politically as much at his own power base as at America. When we consider that Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been getting all the press recently not Osama, the appearance of the videotape at this time is probably meant to remind his base that Osama was responsible for "the big one" i.e., September 11.

All the best

Chris

Good observation,Chris...It did begin to appear that al-Zarqawi had eclipsed Bin Laden,at least in the media.

Hey Howard! Great to see you're still active here.

As an interesting aside, the most recent issue of "The Economist" has an article quoting a Western Islamic scholar that there may be an error in the translation of the term "virgins" and that martyrs may be promised 72 RAISINS in Paradise, not 72 VIRGINS.

Oops.
