Sir Charles Warren Yields to Popular Clamor
BLOODHOUNDS AS POLICEMEN
London, Oct. 6.
The popular clamor for the introduction of bloodhounds into the chase for the Whitechapel murderer, intensified by the recommendation of Professor Nye (?), has at last elicited a sign from gen. Sir Charles Warren, chief commissioner of the metropolitan police. He has personally informed the press that he has decided to avail himself of the suggestion to use dogs, but expresses his disbelief in the efficacy of the idea. Since the murderer reads the newspapers he is forewarned and consequently forearmed. The most searching inquiries of the police into the clues furnished by the statement of a man named Dodge failed to give any credence to the truth of his assertions and the police of Scotland Yard are as far as ever from a clue.
