The London police are outwitted by Jack the Ripper to an extent that would make the police of any American city feel ashamed of themselves. Another and another, and again and again, the same story of horrible butchery and dreadful murder, yet no trace of the perpetrator of found. People of the world's metropolis and of all England have two causes for terror. Women of all classes tremble at the thought of the murderous wretch who chose the name "Ripper" to perpetuate his infamy, and the elite of the whole country shiver in anticipation that the shah of Persia may make them a visit with his retinue.
