FLOWER AND DEAN-STREET AREA.

In view of the recent events which have taken place in Whitechapel, the report of the London City Mission is interesting, inasmuch as it gives some reliable information representing the district. The society's report says that the victims of the recent crimes in the East End lived in this district, and frequented the common-lodging houses, which are situated within its boundaries. The dreadful tragedies which have so recently occurred have struck terror into the minds of many of this class, and advantage has been taken of this by the organising secretary of the midnight movement. The population is a migratory one. There are 40 lodging-houses in the neighbourhood accommodating 4,000 souls.
