NOT JACK THE RIPPER

The police ridicule the assumption of the Tunisian authorities that they have arrested the Whitechapel murderer, and will probably not take any steps to have him brought to London. The prevailing theory at Scotland yard is that the man, finding himself in custody in Tunis on a serious charge, is trying to get to London in the hope of being released when it shall be discovered that he is neither Jack the Ripper nor any other criminal wanted by the London police.
