Elizabeth Jackson

Sections of her body were found in the Thames between May and June 1889.

Elizabeth was born late in 1865 and her birth was registered in the St. Luke's district of London in the last quarter of that year.
She was the daughter of William H. Jackson, a shipwright, who was born in Aldgate, and Hannah Jackson, born in Suffolk. Both her parents are listed in the 1871 census as aged 31, so would have been born in or about 1840.
Elizabeth's mother, before marriage, was Hannah Kerswell and the marraige of her and William Jackson was not registered until September of 1867, so Elizabeth was actually born out of wedlock.

In 1871 the family was listed as living at 5 Edinburgh Terrace, Mile End, London. The household is listed as follows:

Head:
William H Jackson aged 31 born London - Shipwright
Wife:
Hannah Jackson aged 31 born Suffolk
Children:
Elizabeth Jackson aged 6 born Shadwell
William Henry aged 4 months born Stepney

I can find no further mention of their young son, William Henry, and so presumably he died at an early age.

The family is listed in 1881 at 11 St. Dunstan's Road, Mile End Old Town, London.

Head:
William H Jackson aged 40 born Aldgate - Shipwright
Wife:
Hannah Jackson aged 32 (sic) born Shatford, Suffolk
Children:
Elizabeth Jackson aged 16 born Mile End - Domestic servant
Alice Hannah Jackson aged 4 born Mile End
Charlotte Jackson aged 1 born Mile End
