The Voynitch mansucript is certainly interesting but it is not possible to 100% discount the possibility of a modern(ish) forgery. However the Phaistos Disk in, in my opinion, undoubtedly genuinely ancient and is simply (!) in a completely unknown language. Even the purpose of the disk is unknown - I have seen opinions ranging from a gaming board to some sort of astrological chart.
The infuriating thing is that it looks so easy to solve - but I suppose all the best puzzles do. There have been many attempts put forward but all differ radically and I find none of them convincing.
There are many sites on the disk - a search on Google produces 5800 hits! - but one I found very useful and pretty scientific in its approach is at:

for those not familiar with the script on the disk, here is a sketch of both sides of the disk:

Hi Chris;

Maps of the male and female minds? Maps of the summer and winter skies? Maps of land areas? Floor plans? A cryptic biography? I suppose all of those have been thought of before as well as many others.

Best regards,

Stan
